Summer Vacation!

I've taken a sabbatical from blogging to finish up Spanish classes, teaching and getting some deadlines all wrapped up. It's been a whirlwind month for me so the days just zipped by and now we're looking forward to summer vacation!

In between deadlines and teaching, we've enjoyed meeting so many new folks who are checking out Cuenca on their first exploratory trip or coming here to stay and make Cuenca their new home. Although Mark and I have different teaching schedules, we have "almuerzo" together every day.

This week, we discovered a new place --"Fabiano's Restaurant"-- where they serve great lunches and dinners. Currently, they have a promotional which is a personal size pizza for $3.00 and three toppings! Fabiano (owner), his wife (Jackie) and their daughter (Jocelyn) all speak perfect English and are ready to help with your parties or special events. This Saturday will be my last class teaching Advanced Conversational English, so my kids are going to enjoy some mouth-watering pizza from Fabiano's.

Although we're heading into "winter" in Cuenca (June, July and August), we're off on summer break to the coast in a few weeks and then to California (in July) for some much needed family time with our kids who will be meeting us on the West Coast. We'll be vacationing in the San Luis Obispo area where Mark and I celebrated our honeymoon 37 years ago. I'll also be doing some book signings and promotional events with some upcoming Chicken Soup books (Say Goodbye to Stress, Think Positive for Great Health and Hope and Healing for your Breast Cancer Journey).

Our life runs in seasons in Cuenca--alternating with teaching and vacations--which isn't a bad way to live. And just like the kids that we teach, we look forward to summer break as well!

Until next time...hasta luego!
